I want to share this story with you all now for the purpose of giving it some energy that will further help it come to fruition.
I know there has been much chatter about visualizations and last night's meeting included one. For the past year or so I have been doing visualizations about a house for my family to move into.
It started last year when I was working with a coach. He suggested Suzy and I write out every last fine detail about the place we wanted to live in. So we did so by splitting a piece of paper length wise and we each wrote out what we wanted. Then we came together one night and discussed what we wrote out. We were amazed at how in tune we were.
So everyday for the past year, as part of my pre-adjusting routine, I have read that page. I have taken time during my morning walks to picture it and I take five or so minutes before bedtime to see the house. I've had no idea where the house was although I know where I have prayed it to be.
The day before I succumbed to the flu, I received an email from my realtor as I do everyday. Everyday there is a ton on unwanted listings. So much so I stopped looking at the emails between December and this particular listing. I still don't know what I even "bothered to look." But I saw a house and called to make an appointment to look at it. Then I picked up the flu and we tabled the idea for two weeks. During the two weeks I never had the fear that we "might loose the house." When I thought about it, it was "my house." It's already done. We already own it. Mind you, I still haven't seen the physical structure of the house, only what I have seen in my mind.
So today we finally got to see the house. New roof, looks smaller than it is listed as, but attractive. I beat my wife to the viewing and went inside to look around. Actually saw the whole house by the time she made it. All the while I have the picture of the list in my mind. I read so many times I have it memorized. And the thing is as I was walking thought the house, I'm making check marks off the list...got it, check that, on the list, etc.
The crown jewel for me is that a little secret most don't know about me is that I love Billiards. I love playing pool. I was about to go into the basement and thought better of it. I literally said to myself "I know there is a pool table down there and I want that to be the icing on the cake." So after viewing the whole house and back yard I remembered I hadn't gone down into the basement. Guess what the first thing I saw was when I got down there....a billiards table, with a full bar behind it. The last two amenities on our list. I could have done back flips if I had the ceiling space.
After this my wife finally showed up and I got to watch her do the exact same thing, check, check, check. All in all 95% of what we have listed on our list is in the house. The 5% that isn't on the list are renovations that we are willing to do or amenities that we are willing to grow into.
Although at this point we are negotiating on the house and even assuming we agree (which we will) and may have bumps at inspection (there always are and you get through them) we already know this is our house. We saw the kid's playing and doing their homework while Suzy cooked dinner. I saw myself swimming in the pool and shooting some stick.
If anyone knows anyone else who is looking to rent or buy an (approximate) 1275 square foot condo in Avon, CT, please let me know or pass on my info.
If this happened to me, what can each of us achieve? Think about it, all we have to do is get completely clear on what we want. I had the hardest time with that concept a couple of years back. But when we really get clear and truly see in our mind's eye what we want and how to get it. And if we are all true of heart and spirit, we can have great things...a great practice, great house, great family, whatever.
